Chipotle Oaxacan Mezcal & Basil Cocktail

The key to this cocktail is a smoky, authentic Mezcal. The Chipotle Basil Oaxacan Mezcal Cocktail is an all-season favorite, balancing the robust aroma and flavor of the Mezcal with fresh basil and sweet agave. The result? One super tasty cocktail. The fresh basil, sour lime juice and sweet agave syrup work together to warm your belly - and that’s even before you introduce the Mezcal, which adds a tantalizing smoky flavor.

Not only is it a super tasty cocktail, but this Chipotle Basil Oaxacan Mezcal Cocktail looks great as well. The fresh basil gets trapped in the bottom of the glass by the ice cubes and when you pour in your cocktail the green basil floats on top, making for an amazing presentation. Rim the glass with Salinity Chipotle Finishing Salt to add a complex smoky finish that enhances each of the cocktail's ingredients. 


Here's how to make it: 



  • Add lime wedges and basil to the shaker. Muddle.
  • Add mezcal, lime juice, agave, and ice. Shake well.
  • Wet the rim of an old fashioned glass with a lime wedge and roll the rim in the Chipotle salt.
  • Add ice to the glass, then pour in the cocktail. Garnish with a lime wedge and basil leaves. Serve.
